Session 20: Scott Stratten, Social Currency, The Process of Giving Before Taking
- Social currency — have to give before you get. Period.
- Relationships build business — and you should make building them your business.
- No shortcuts in social media, no shortcuts to building relationships — must invest time and energy
- Don’t piss off your potential market
- Twitter is my baby
- Twitter is about connecting with people authentically
- Twitter is the conversation that is happening right now — so how can you schedule tweets when you’re not there?
- There will always be haters — ignore them, don’t follow, walk away
- If you are your authentic self, you have no competition out there
- I live on Twitter, though I wouldn’t advise anyone else to do this
- Build followers by writing re-tweetable (helpful, WOW) content
- I am on twitter to meet other rockstars in business
- On Twitter, out of sight, out of mind, out of conversation
- Giving on Twitter without condition is the best thing you can do
- People say, “How do you keep up?” And I say, ” I don’t”
- If you tweet it, they will come
- People connect with people, they don’t connect with logos. I want to connect with YOU
- Twitter: I’ve moved in, I’m on your futon and I’m moving in
- Twitter is not a spectator sport
